WHAT TO DO AND SEE WHILE STAYING AT PARK
HOTEL WEGGIS |

Lucerne
The symbols of Lucerne are its water tower, the Pilatus and since
very recently, the Culture and Congress centre by the Parisian star
architect Jean Nouvel.
Lucerne is a pulsating city that offers great creative potential. A
large variety of cultural events, shopping and world-famous sights are
all there to be seen daily.
Rigi
An unforgettable excursion experience with beautiful nature
sceneries, marvellous panorama outlooks, rack railways and funiculars.
Pilatus
The Pilatus offers you a unique day out with the world's steepest
rack-railway (slope 48%), and a spectacular cable-car ride with modern
and silent panorama gondolas. This culminates in a breathtaking and
overwhelming view from the 2132 m high mountain peak.
Round trips by boat
If you would like to see central Switzerland from the best angle
then take a boat!. Five nostalgic paddle-steamers and 15 elegant motor
boats are ready and waiting to show you everything that mother nature
has to offer along 38 kilometres of waterway: from rolling meadows,
idyllic bays, dramatic lake fjords, up to the vertically falling steep
walls of the first Alpine peak.
Horse carriage
Comfortable horse carriage run-of-the-mill and around the lake.
Zoo Goldau
The zoo of Central Switzerland is situated directly in the romantic
and wild mountain region of Goldau. Wild animals live in their natural
environment and can be observed as they roam around freely within
spacious confines.
Glasi Herwisgil
Exciting exhibition of works formed in fire. Walk through a
labyrinth of light and sounds, watch the craftsman do his rhythmic work
and discover for yourself how you can form, cast or blow glass from the
glowing mass.
Hell grotto caves
Hidden in the wild Lorzentobel near Baar you will find a subterranean
magic landscape of stalactites, stalagmites and small lakes. Stalagmites
and stalactites in different colours give each cave its own character
and charm. |

ABOUT WEGGIS |
|
30km (19 miles) E of Lucerne
The lakeside resort of Weggis is on the sunny side of Mount Rigi, one of
three holiday centers (Vitznau and Gersau are the others) that offer the
kind of mild climate found in favored parts of Italy. Weggis and the
other resorts are about an hour's walk or a 5-minute drive apart.
Well-tended garden promenades stretch for several miles along the
lakeshore. Mark Twain stayed here in 1897.
Of the three resorts, Weggis is preferred by most. It's usually the
first port of call for steamers from Lucerne and is also easily
accessible from the international St. Gotthard railway line, although
it's not on the main traffic route.
Many excursions are possible from early spring to late autumn. You can
take the aerial cableway up to Rigi-Kaltbad (1,427m/4,681 ft.), a
mountain health resort behind Weggis. This is great walking country, not
only on the promenade quays but also on the slopes of the Rigi, which
are planted with vines. Even some almost tropical species of vegetation
grow here. In addition, mountain transport links Weggis with the Rigi
Railways. |
